Very little complete at the moment Sophie. No research for the main task and only one of the ancillaries covered. A strange decision to make your magazine free considering none of your examples are free (from what I can work out?) The text on the billboard ppt needs breaking down and on the focus group feedback-perhaps think of a more visual way of displaying the info? Nothing for the website and no planning. Current mark is 3/20
Research is proficient-though not very wide ranging and not quite enough theory in terms of your communication. Planning is very basic: I'd add further drafts as you start the production-including the website. Organisation is better and presentation, use of ICT does enough for level 3. Overall final mark (unless you add/change later on) for R&P is 13/20. LAF
Audience Research – Your target audience research is sound but you really need to make it look more attractive, rather than just blocks of text. Also consider including a little more analysis, or at the very least some discussion of how your understanding of audience impacts on your planning. The use of focus groups is find and needs to continue, but is also pretty boring to look at. Remember to work on presentation as it will impact on your marks. Codes and Conventions Main Task – I have to agree with Mr. F. This element needs more detail to climb up to higher in level 3, though it is definitely not level 2. Ideally, include more reference to critical theory. For example, when discussing images use phrases to do with representation and audience reception theory. Consider discussing the ideology of your target audience (or rather that of the magazine you are analysing). Ancillaries – Sound research and a good mockup of your billboard. Planning – The mockups show good evidence of planning at this first stage. What you need now is a second stage mockup, where you start to include the actual text you intend to use in your production. As you make these changes, think carefully about white space. Make constant reference to your research texts so that you can reflect the layout and design (especially at page edges). Also, find an image for your front cover mockup. Current Mark – 13/20 – I am going to agree with Mr. Fountain here. This could improve if you give some more care to the presentation of your research, and could improve radically if you include more critical theory and analysis.
Not sure if you've made any changes to the research? If so, it's not that obvious so I'm thinking a mark of 13 or 14 is about right for that part. The production is very good as we discussed-35/40. The billboard needs fixing-as it is 4 or 5, but if you do what we said, at least 7. Can't see the website and can't read your prezi evaluation which needs fixing, checking and then uploading.
Projected mark: 14 + 35 + 7 + 7 (if billboard fixed and website as good) +14 (if evaluation same as research: obviously it may be better as may the website!). If these figures were right, you'd be on a total of 77% (high B). This would mean you'd need 74% in the A2 exam for an overall B grade (34% for a C)
Finally got around to looking at your Prezi: apologies for the delay! If you made no further changes and uploaded it as it is, this would be around 14/20-but it won't take much to get higher. My advice would be to finish off the other little bits (e.g. the billboard and website-which I still don't think I've seen completed?) and then work on the following changes. When done, please embed the prezi into blogger and email me to let me know everything is complete:
Q1-Could do with more theory-more references to Uses & Grats to justify your decisions. Use the reception theory terminology more as well, e.g. preferred/dominant reading ,etc. to explain how your target audience will respond positively
Q2-This is generally rather vague and the weakest one. Look back at the model blogs for examples on what else you could include here.
Q3-Very good. Perhaps include a short additional section summarizing how audience have helped-and include refs to earlier on in the (pre/post) production stages, not just the audience looking at the final version.
Q4-Some specific examples of what you did on Photoshop with pictures (e.g. before and after type shots) will help lift this. Otherwise, this too is pretty good.
The only other issue here is with the navigability of the actual Prezi. This does need to be sorted out as presentation and use of ICT are explicit parts of the markscheme for the evaluation. I'll post all of these comments on your blog as well.
